Lions to race ducks

 

 

The first annual rubber duck race and mini carnival takes place Sept. 3 at Memorial  Park. 

 

The event is a benefit  for the Lions Club and an opportunity for the community to celebrate the end of the summer season. 

 

Lions Club president  Stefanie Doaty said as many as 500 ducks may be racing for prize money and bragging  rights. Ducks can be purchased through Aug. 28.

 

The event still needs musicians and any other organizations that may be  willing to donate their time.

 

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with duck racing beginning  at 1 p.m.

 

The Lions Club brings regular  events  to the community including monthly Bingo, which will take place next Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. (dinner) and 6 p.m. play at the Boys and Girls Club. 

 

Half the proceeds  from  that event will be donated to the Hill City Ambulance  District.
