Rodeo team wraps up season at state
The Custer High School rodeo team wrapped up its season at last weekend’s state rodeo in Fort Pierre.
Avari Dorrance posted a time of 11.43 in the first round of goat tying and had a time of 8.60 to end up 25th in the average.
Cody Dirkes advanced to the short go in cutting, where he placed second and placed fifth overall in the event. The top four competitors from each event advance to the natoinal finals.
Kenley Parker had no time in both rounds for breakaway roping. In goat tying she had a time of 9.56 in the first round and no time the second round. She ended up 23rd in the average.
Jayden Lange had no time in both rounds in breakaway.
Cody Dirkes and Rhett Lowe placed second in the second go round with a time of 7.05. They went back to the short go and placed sixth, ending up 8th in the average.
Kylee Ellerton had a time of 5.34 in the breakaway in the first go, but a no time in the second. In goat tying she had a 9.36 in the first round and no time in the second round, ending 19th in the average.
Slate Suhn had no time for the first round in team roping and a time of 8.53 in the second round. He had no time in the short go and ended up 10th in the average. Suhn also had no time in the first round of tie down before posting 11.53 in the second round. Suhn made the short go but had a no time and ended up 16th in average.
Leighton Sander had a first round score of 53 points in saddle bronc before having no score in the second go. Sander made the short go and got a no score, ending up eighth in the average.
Finally, Addie Sander had a time of 16.434 in the first round of barrel racing and 16.274 in the second round to end up 22nd in the average. In pole bending she was at 21.806 in the first round and 27.398 in the second round to end up 26th in the average. She had no time in breakway in both rounds.
