Two die in UTV crash south of Custer
Two men died in a single vehicle UTV crash Monday evening seven miles south of Custer. The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Side-by-Side, a 60-year-old male from Long Pine, Neb., was traveling southbound on Flynn Creek Road.
Failing to negotiate a curve, the vehicle slid sideways on the gravel road, entered the east side ditch and collided with a tree. Both the driver and passenger, a 41-year-old male from Ainsworth, Neb., died at the scene.
Both men were wearing seat belts, and neither man was wearing a helmet.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
