Laura Muckler, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully July 2, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Saint Mary’s Campus in Rochester, Minn. She was 62 years old.
Born in Hot Springs, S.D., April 7, 1963, Laura grew up in Fairburn (S.D.) and went to school in Custer (S.D.)
Laura met her husband and love of her life, Jerry, in Custer. They shared 43 beautiful years together. 

Joseph McGowan III

Joseph Edward McGowan III was born  Feb. 25, 1940 in the Bronx, N.Y., to Joseph and Elizabeth (Dolan) McGowan.
Joe was the oldest, later joined by brother, John and sister Patricia. The young family resided on 262nd Street in the Bronx, just blocks away from family and lifelong friends.
Joe attended St. Margaret’s of Cortana Parish School in the Bronx, then onto Cardinal Hayes High School, an all-boys private Catholic high school in the Concourse Village neighborhood of the Bronx. 

Dwight Boysen

Dwight Lee Boysen was born March, 9, 1946, in Atlantic, Iowa, to the parents of Clifford H. Boysen (died Oct. 21, 2014) and Velma (Babbitt) Boysen (died July 14, 2014). 
He was baptized and confirmed at Monroe Chapel Global Methodist Church. In 1964 he graduated from Elk Horn High School in Elk Horn, Iowa.
He married Raedell Ann Nelson June 4, 1965 and together they had three children—Lesley Ann (b. 1965), Douglas Ross (b. 1971) and Jennifer Rae (b. 1976).

David Hartshorn

David Robert Hartshorn was born June 24, 2000 in Rapid City, S.D., to Lucas and Amy Hartshorn.
David was an aspiring over the road truck driver, a cowboy, a firefighter and an aborist of Lutheran faith.
He passed away June 30, 2025 in Birmingham, Ala. He was 25.
David was preceded in death by Dora Crackel.

Margery Baldwin

Margery Baldwin, 97, of Custer, S.D., passed away Nov. 12, 2024.
Committal service will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Custer Lutheran Fellowship.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.

Jeffrey Tennyson

Jeffrey Allen Tennyson, born June 23, 1959, to Bernard and Marjorie Tennyson, passed away at Monument Health Rapid City (S.D.) Hospital June 19, 2025. He was 66.
The sixth of seven children, Jeff was a fun-loving person with a winsome smile. He was kind, caring and thoughtful to everyone he met, and could make almost anyone laugh with his sharp wit and sense of humor.

Marilyn Feiock

Marilyn Feiock was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Berthold, N.D., to John Allshouse and Esther (Buen) Allshouse.
Marilyn, of Custer, S.D., passed away June 9, 2025.    She was 85.
She is survived by her sons, Clifford Dean (Dianna)  Feiock of Rosemount, Minn., and Douglas Wayne (Geri) Feiock of Eagan, Minn.;  sisters,  Clarice Erdahl and Gail Mollerud;  five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Marilyn will be laid to rest with her husband Clifford at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D., in the near future.

Dixie Neiffer

Dixie Neiffer was born Sept. 20, 1960, in Hot Springs, S.D. She grew up in Fairburn, S.D. Her fondest childhood memories were at her grandparents’ ranch.
She went to high school in Custer, S.D., where she met her husband, Bob. Dixie married Bob Oct. 18, 1980, in Custer, where they lived together for 44 years.
In 1981, they had their first child Wendy, followed by Tommy in 1984 and Sammi in 1990. They raised their kids in Custer.

Raymond Hadlock

Raymond Earle Hadlock was born Nov. 7, 1938, in Simsbury, Conn. He was one of five children to Erwin and Althea (Parsons) Hadlock.  
Along with his family, Ray moved to Custer, S.D., in 1947; this is where he spent his entire life.

Penny Stahl

Penny Paula Stahl was born April 3, 1954, in Rapid City, S.D., to Reed and Margaret “Peggy”(O’Neal) Drury, joining an older sister Barbara, then brothers Kenneth and Neal.
They lived in Keystone, S.D., where Reed worked in the mica and quartz mines; returning to Philip, S.D., where they spent the next 19 years. She attended K-12 and graduated from Philip High School in 1972 along with 13 others, who remained friends to this day.
