Local family opens Healthy Roots Wellness Studio

After experiencing the benefits of Pulse Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy firsthand, Pete and Alisha Kolb of Hill City felt called to make the innovative wellness therapy available to others. In early March, the couple opened Healthy Roots Wellness Studio in Rapid City. 
Their journey with PEMF began after their son, Karson, suffered a football injury. A neighbor offered the family the use of their personal PEMF machine.

Showing art some love at Buffalo Love Event

Join some of the areas loveliest artists at the third annual Buffalo Love event June 20 hosted by Gypsy Rose Tattoo Studio on Museum Drive. 
The community-driven event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features work by local artists and authors, as well as a silent auction and charity luncheon that will benefit the Beta Rho Sorority Scholarship Fund that presents scholarships to Hill City High School senior girls each year to help them pursue higher education.

Jon Crane celebrates 50 years of artistry

One of the most noted artists of the Black Hills, Jon Crane is marking a major milestone this year, his golden anniversary as a watercolor artist. 
After 50 years of painting, Crane has no intentions of slowing down. 
Crane is best known for his meticulously detailed watercolor paintings depicting rural America, historical farmsteads, old buildings, wildlife and landscapes of the Black Hills and Great Plains. More than creating paintings, he creates a window into the heart and soul of South Dakota’s natural beauty through every brush stroke. 

Shirley’s brings healthy options to Keystone

A new breakfast spot has opened in Keystone with some familiar faces at the helm. Shirley’s Keystone Cafe is taking over the Battle Creek Basecamp Building, which is also home to Battle Creek Vacations office.
Paula Cottrell, the spokesperson for the new restaurant, said the new cafe is filling a need in town, serving up “first ingredient foods,” she said, with options to sit down or grab and go.
“We wanted to do simple ingredients,” said Cottrell, emphasizing fresh and homemade where possible.
